The 10,000 shot club!

Hello families!

We are brining back the 10,000 shot club for 2023 from June 1st-September 8th. This year we have some fun and exciting new opportunities.  Here are the details!

10,000 Shot Club
One way young players can help themselves is by finding a basketball, available hoop and getting up shots.  Starting June 1st and running through September 8th, the ATBB is sponsoring a 10k shot challenge (similar to what we did last year).  Each player who participates will need to track their own shots that they take throughout this time period and we will have a place where you can send in your shots taken on a weekly basis.  Every player who shoots 10,000 shots during the Summer will receive a t-shirt and be recognized at a Varsity game next season.

11,000 Make Club
We are stepping up the level of competition this Summer and adding an 11k make club as well.  In addition to taking the 10,000 shots, IF any player gets to 11,000 makes over the Summer, they will also be eligible for a basketball courtesy of the ATBB.  10,000 shots is a lot of reps but 11,000 makes is putting in that extra effort and could help to take your game to another level.

**Please make sure that when having your child participate, they are taking "game-like shots" (i.e. catch and shoot jump shots, shooting off the dribble, free throws, game speed lay-ups, etc.)

Please use the google form attached to report back weekly.  There is also a google sheet provided to print off and use to write down attempts/makes each day for your own use at home.

Please have each player read the following before starting the challenge:

When specifically working on shooting, use the following tips to help improve your shooting:

  1. Focus on the basic shooting fundamentals. (B.E.E.F.) Do not worry about making the shot until you have the correct form down. Shooting with incorrect form will make it more difficult to become a great shooter. As your form improves, then you can focus on making shots.

  2. Develop a routine that combines a variety of shots.

  3. Use fakes and drives when shooting.

  4. GO FULL SPEED and simulate game shots.

  5. Practice shots after you are tired. You rarely shoot a shot in a game when you are fully rested.
